‘Rituals’ is about the conflict between society that uses the power of religion and the fear of God to impose a permanent state of girlhood on females who are on the way of becoming women on the one hand, and the female body and its biology on the other hand. And it happens in the small confines of the bathroom where the adolescent is caught in a monthly loop. Slowly, losing the ownership of her agency and her own body to embody a representation of femininity, which is not hers to begin with – and to ultimately fear her own body and who she is becoming.
